Brassweight Press accepts a limited number of submissions each year.
We publish contemporary fantasy and literary fiction with a focus on voice, craft, and emotional depth, alongside select poetry.
We are a small, craft-focused press. We are selective.
What We’re Looking For
- Character-driven fiction
- Strong, intentional prose
- Clear attention to structure and form
- Work that prioritizes depth over speed or trend
We are particularly interested in work that sits at the intersection of literary and speculative fiction.
What We’re Not Looking For
- Plot-driven work without strong character focus
- Derivative or trend-chasing submissions
- Work that has not been revised to a professional standard
- AI-generated or AI-assisted manuscripts
This isn’t about gatekeeping—it’s about fit.

Fiction (Primary Focus)
- Novels and novellas
- Contemporary fantasy and literary fiction
Poetry (Limited)
- Poetry is selected and curated by our poetry editor
- Submission periods may be limited or closed at times
Submission Guidelines
- Include a brief query letter
- Provide a synopsis (fiction)
- Attach the first 10 pages of the manuscript (12pt, double-spaced, standard manuscript format)
- Include the total word count and genre
